The well-known Telugu actor Chandra Mohan dies of a cardiac arrest at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad.

Esteemed Telugu thespian Chandra Mohan bid farewell on November 11, departing from this world at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad due to a sudden cardiac arrest. The actor had been under medical care for cardiac concerns, leaving behind his wife and two daughters to carry on his legacy.

The 82-year-old actor passed away at Apollo Hospital on Saturday at 9:57 a.m., according to information provided by Apollo PRO Jagan. The last goodbyes and ceremonies are set to take place in Hyderabad on Monday, November 13, according to an ANI report.

The veteran actor’s passing was deeply regretted by the Telugu film industry.

After learning the news, megastar Chiranjeevi wrote a heartfelt message. Taking to X, he wrote, “It is very sad to know that the senior actor and protagonist Chandramohan Garu is no longer with us. In his debut cinematic venture, he showcased an array of acting prowess, leaving an enduring impression on the hearts of Telugu cinephiles with standout performances in diverse films such as Sirisimuvva, Sankarabharanam, Radhakalyanam, and Nakoo Pellam Khali, Pranam Kharidu, he played a mute and did an amazing job. That occasion marked the beginning of what became a close friendship and even stronger bond between us. I feel a personal loss in not being near him anymore. My sincerest sympathies to his family and fans, may his soul rest in peace.

The late actor was praised by RRR actor Jr. NTR, who also called his passing premature and offered his family his condolences. He expressed his sorrow in a post on X, saying, “It is very sad to see the untimely death of Chandramohan Garu, who has earned a special recognition for himself by playing various roles in films for many decades.” I send his family my sincerest condolences and hope that his soul rests in peace.

In a moving homage, actor Sai Tej Dharam recalls Chandra Mohan’s iconic roles and performances. With his unforgettable acting and characters, he writes, “His is a face that takes us down memory lane & puts a smile on our faces every time.” I hope you find peace in heaven, Chandra Mohan sir. The career of Chandra Mohan:

Mallampalli Chandrasekhar Rao, better known as Chandra Mohan, was born on May 23, 1943, in the Andhra Pradesh village of Pamidimukkala, in the Krishna region. In 1966, the actor started his career in Telugu cinema with Rangula Ratnam. Throughout his 932 filmography, he played the lead role in 150 of them. Two Nandi Awards and one Filmfare Award South have been given to him.

“In the cinematic realm, his repertoire encompassed notable works such as “Shankarabharanam,” “Seethaamalakshmi,” “Padaharella Vayasu,” “Siri Siri Muvva,” and “Chandamama Raave” during the vibrant year of 1980. Left to cherish his memory are his enduring legacy and the surviving company of his two daughters and spouse, Jalandhara.

A family member told reporters, “He had been ailing for quite some time due to age-related issues and he passed away at around 9:45am at Apollo Hospitals.” He also mentioned that his funeral services would take place in Hyderabad on Monday.

Chandra Mohan, whose real name was Mallampalli Chandrasekhar Rao, was also the cousin of K Vishwanath, the late veteran director and recipient of the Dada Sahab Phalke award, who passed away in February. He shares a close family tree with the late S P Balasubrahmanyam, a well-known playback singer.

Chandra Mohan, who was born on May 23, 1943, in Pamidimukkala village in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, first became involved in the Telugu film industry in 1966 with the release of “Rangula Ratnam,” for which he won the Nandi award for best actor from the state government.
