President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurates Spectacular Vaishno Devi Skywalk: A Pilgrimage Above the Clouds

At the Vaishno Devi Temple in the Reasi district, President Droupadi Murmu celebrated the opening of a skywalk and the renovated Parvati Bhavan on Thursday.

The President was in Jammu and Kashmir on a two-day trip. President Murmu received details about the initiatives from Anshul Garg, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s CEO. By helping pilgrims arrive and depart from different paths, the Yatri Parchi management system, or the skywalk, will lessen the likelihood of congestion.

President Droupadi Murmu traveled to Jammu and Kashmir for two days with the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who also visited a temple. Two important and prominent projects were officially opened by President Droupadi Murmu today in the Reasi district’s Trikuta Hills, close to the Vaishno Devi Shrine.

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) CEO, Anshul Garg, welcomed the President and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha when they arrived at the VIP helipad close to the Mata Vaishno Devi Bhavan. The skywalk and the renovated Parvati Bhavan, which was built inside the temple grounds, were unveiled by President Murmu.

Traveling on pilgrimage should be considerably more convenient with the skywalk. Pilgrims will have separate routes to return after their pilgrimage and darshan, lowering the possibility of overcrowding. This campaign is in response to the sad incident on December 31, 2021, when a stampede resulted in the deaths of 12 pilgrims and the injuries of 16 more. After the catastrophe, it was proposed to build a skywalk to separate the pilgrims entering and leaving the Bhavan; visitors would enter the Bhavan by the skywalk and leave via the current path. Modern amenities are available on the skywalk.

Additionally, the Parvati Bhavan, which has 1500 lockers, was opened by President Murmu. Around 10,000 to 15,000 pilgrims per day use these lockers to store their possessions, take a bath, and travel to and from the Cave Temple via the skywalk. Restrooms are included on each floor of the structure, which is specifically made for the comfort of both men and women. During the puja and archana at the Devi Vaishno Devi Cave Temple, President Murmu also took part.

Yesterday, President Droupadi Murmu spoke at Kashmir University’s 20th Convocation event and presented awards and degrees to deserving students.
